Mohave Desert Sidewinder Rattlesnake (Crotalus cerastes cerastes)
There are three subspecies of this iconic rattlesnake found in Arizona. Although they are all very similar in appearance, I decided to produce an illustration of each subspecies for the ‘Rattlesnake of Arizona’ book . The newest rattle segment of the Mojave subspecies is always brown.
